Republicans making move to repeal new healthcare law
American citizens who are opposed to Obamacare are likely breathing a cautions sigh of relief. A discharge petition is being circulated in the House to repeal the new healthcare law, and it’s been signed by 109 Congresspersons. That would mean that it has hit the half-way point to a forced new vote in the chamber, and Pelosi can’t stop it, according to a www.wnd.com article on Wednesday.
Since Obamacare was passed along party lines, it is believed that this petition to repeal it will have the unified support of Republicans. There is speculation that there may even be some moderate Democrats who agree to sign it. However, as long as the Republicans remain united in this move to repeal Obamacare, a new vote will still be forced in chamber.
The nearly $1 trillion price tag to socialize America’s medical industry it still a hot issue among Congress, as well as the legal mandate that Americans must purchase health insurance or face prison time.
House Minority leader John Boehner wrote a report a few months ago which included a list of shortcomings in relation to Obamacare, and Wednesday’s World Net Daily article listed some of the major ones as:
"Some of the nation's largest employers have announced they will be forced to make cutbacks as a result of Obamacare's job-killing mandates."
"Two independent government entities … have confirmed that the new law fails to lower health care costs and reduce the deficit."
"Obamacare includes at least a dozen violations of President Obama's pledge to not raise taxes on middle-class families."
"The government has confirmed that the new law's massive Medicare cuts will fall squarely on the backs of seniors, millions of whom will be forced off their current Medicare coverage."
Though a www.rasmussenreports.com article on Monday reported that 60 percent of voters favor a repeal of the new healthcare law, www.thehill.com reported on Tuesday that Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes that the new healthcare reforms will actually give Democrats an edge in November. However, political scientist David Redlawsky believes that it will be the independents who have the final say in the November outcome.
Obama’s recess appointment of Dr. Donald M. Berwick as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has many Christian groups concerned that his favorable views on healthcare rationing will hasten Medicare and Medicaid cuts for seniors and those who are disabled. Such a move would lead to a decrease in their quality of life and perhaps prevent them from having adequate care and supplies.
For those who want to contact their Representatives and urge them to sign the petition to repeal Obamacare, the Capitol switchboard number is 1-202-224-3121. The World Net Daily article noted below includes a list of Representatives who have already signed the petition.
